We recently received a request from one of our Facebook fans. She needs a supportive pair of sandals for warm weather (preferably under $125), but she has high arches and plantar fasciitis. Our reader also suffers from neuropathy, so her feet are sensitive to rough seams and too-tight straps. Turning to our readers for recommendations always leads to more possibilities than I myself can conjure, so we’re thankful for so many great recommendations for sandals for high arches and plantar fasciitis. Let’s get started: Laura recommends the Aetrex Jillian quarter-strap sandal saying it is her sandal of choice for high arches. It’s approved by the AMPA (American Medical Podiatric Association), and for good reason. It features orthotic-like support for the arches along with a deep heel cup for stability and metatarsal bar for ball-of-foot support. A memory foam-covered footbed and adjustable straps add to the overall comfort of the Jillian sandal. Find the Aetrex Jillian in a variety of colors, sizes 5-11 (even a 10.5) for $109.95 from Zappos, Shoes.com and Amazon. After publishing, I came across the Aetrex Bethany with smoother straps, which might feel better on feet with neuropathy. Noreen and Joanne suggest Alegria sandals, specifically the Playa, Kleo and Viki models. Noreen likes the Playa sandal for its excellent cushioning–in fact, we’ve reviewed the Playa sandal previously, see it here. But for enhanced arch support, she prefers the Alegria Kleo with its rocker sole and three adjustable straps for a customized fit. Find the Kleo in euro sizes 35-42 (5-11) for $119.95 from Zappos, Find a deal at Amazon, and 6pm.com. Joanne recommends the Alegria Viki . As she words it, the Viki is “scooped out away from the toe line,” so shouldn’t irritate sensitive toes. Traci raves about Taos sandals, “They are the most comfortable sandals I ever owned! I bought my first pair when I was suffering from plantar fasciitis. They have great arch support, cushioning, and adjustable straps.” Pictured above is the Taos Zen sport sandal with arch, metatarsal and heel support. The footbed is covered in Cool Recovery Foam® which not only cushions the soles but contains a cooling gel to keep feet comfortable on hot days. Find the Taos Zen in sizes 6-11 for $120 from TaosFootwear.com, Zappos, Nordstrom and Amazon. You can’t beat Skechers for affordable comfort. These cute sports sandals were recommended by our reader Ellen…and they’re between $39-50 depending on the store! Great cushioning, good support and lots of 5 star reviews. Find the Skechers Performance On-the-Go in sizes 5-11, medium and wide widths (get the wide width if you need more room for bunions) for $39.99-50 from Zappos, Amazon, RackRoomShoes.com, and Famous Footwear.
