The new Enhanced Mode option of Windows Search was launched in the most recent Windows 10 Insider Built that is already pushing features that may find their way into the next feature update. While Windows 10 users are still waiting for Windows 10 version 1809 to release, or re-release, work on the next feature update continues. Tip: check out WizFile or Everything Search for faster file searches. What is Enhanced Windows Search mode?It is necessary to understand how search works on Windows to understand how Enhanced mode differs from the default search mode that Microsoft calls classic in Windows 10 version 1903. Classic search indexes certain locations on the operating system such as the libraries or items that are placed on the desktop. Users may add or remove locations from search; Indexing means that Windows adds filenames and content of supported files to a database to speed up searches. The built-in search still finds files not in indexed locations but it takes longer. Enhanced on the other hand indexes all locations of the PC.
Microsoft notes that Enhanced has an impact on battery life and that it may increase CPU consumption when indexing operations run. How to enable Enhanced Search Note that you need Windows 10 version 1809 to configure Enhanced Search.
Enhanced search is activated immediately. Windows Search will index all hard drives, locations and files on the system with the exception of locations listed under Excluded Folders on the same Settings page. Add any path that you don’t want indexed by Windows Search there. Closing WordsEnhanced Search makes it easier to configure Windows Search to index all locations. You can achieve the same result by checking all locations in Search Indexing, however but Enhanced may still have the edge here for some users as it includes new devices and locations automatically. Zeman @phonescooper Google today said it will discontinue support for Nearby Notifications on Android devices. The notifications were launched in 2015 as a way for people to discover nearby apps, content, and services based on their location. Businesses could use Bluetooth-based Eddystone and/or Physical Web beacons to beam signals to phones as they passed by, generating an alert. The alerts were meant to help people find relevant information for things in the area, such as transit schedules, free WiFi details, or guidance in museums. Google says, however, that the system has deteriorated such that it is used to deliver spammy notifications that aren’t locally relevant. This, in turn, led to a poor experience for people. “We have a very high bar for the quality of content that we deliver to users, especially content that is delivered through notifications,” said Google in a blog post. “Ultimately, we have determined these notifications did not meet that bar.” Google will discontinue Nearby Notifications on December 6, 2018. Developers will continue to have access to their beacon dashboard and can push location-based notifications through their own apps. Zeman @phonescooper Verizon Wireless today shared launch details concerning the new Palm companion device. Verizon says the small smartphone will be available online and in stores starting November 2. Big Red is offering several ways to finance the phone. The Palm can be paid off over 24 months for payments of $14.58 per month. Alternately, customers can sign a two-year agreement and pay $299 for the Palm, or buy it outright and contract-free for $349. The Palm companion device requires a $10-per-month Verizon NumberShare plan that is anchored to a standard smartphone service plan. The idea behind this diminutive device is to allow people to access their vital apps when needed, but keep them from staring at their screen all day. The Palm features an aluminum chassis with Gorilla Glass panels and an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water. It syncs messages, calls, and other data between itself and the primary phone. The Palm has a 3.3-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 435 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage. It has a 12-megapixel rear camera with flash and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Palm includes LTE, WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth, with an embedded SIM card. It has an 800mAh battery and relies on face unlock for security. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo and is compatible with millions of Android apps. Originally released back in October 2016, the diminutive second-gen device is typically only 10 bucks cheaper than its successor.
But Amazon has already offered it at an additional $10 discount a couple of times, and now Woot takes the deal to the next level by shaving off another $10. That means you need to pay a measly $19.99 for an Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Generation) in black or white today only, although there’s obviously a catch.
Namely, you have to settle for pre-owned units in “good” condition, presenting “minor cosmetic imperfections.” Woot promises all these used Echo Dots are in “perfect working order”, backing that solemn oath with a 90 day limited warranty. You could definitely do a lot worse, and keep in mind this e-tailer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon. The tiny smart speaker’s manufacturers are in fact the ones handling the storage, packing, and shipping of the Echo Dots on special offer today, also covering your standard delivery costs if you’re a Prime member. If you don’t know exactly what an Echo Dot does, it’s pretty much the same as a regular-sized Alexa smart speaker, but if you want high-quality audio, you should probably think about separately buying a high-quality (dumb) speaker.
Otherwise, this bad boy will answer your questions, set timers and alarms, play music from Spotify or Pandora, control smart home devices, and even make hands-free voice calls leveraging Alexa’s impressive capabilities and versatility. That’s a lot of features for just 20 bucks, eh?
Powered by WPeMatico The post If you hurry, you can get a second-gen Amazon Echo Dot at a killer $20 price appeared first on TepuyMagazine. via TepuyMagazine https://ift.tt/2AsBSiY I have a lot of French Toast recipes on this blog! You could say we are big fans! That’s why I couldn’t resist making this Pumpkin Cream Cheese French Toast Casserole which can also be an overnight french toast casserole dish for convenience. Pumpkin Cream Cheese French Toast CasseroleFrench toast casseroles are so much easier than making a stack of french toast. When you’ve got a crowd to feed or planning brunch or even a holiday breakfast, this is your recipe! As mentioned, you can make this up the night before and let it sit in the fridge to really let the bread soak up the egg mixture, or make it the morning of. It’s all about being an easy recipe! Like my Crockpot French Toast, it reminds me a little of a bread pudding. I don’t even need to drizzle with syrup, it’s so tasty. What kind of bread do you use for French Toast Casserole? For this Pumpkin Cream Cheese French Toast, I used a cinnamon raisin bread. I like the Killer Dave brand although it’s a little more expensive, it’s healthier. It also made my breakfast casserole delicious! Other bread I’ve used:
How to Make Pumpkin Cream Cheese French Toast CasseroleMy recipes say to cut the bread into quarters, but honestly, you can rip it or cut into any size. For my Overnight Blueberry French Toast Casserole, I used whole slices, with just the crust cut off. There really are no rules. Depending on how large you want your cream cheese bites, will determine how large you cut it. They aren’t going to melt, as many people think they’ll do. If I have extra time or motivation, I’ll roll the cream cheese chunks in cinnamon sugar before adding them. After you’ve mixed all your liquids, spices and eggs, you’re going to just pour it over the bread. You want the bread to soak up most of the liquid. I’ll usually use a rubber spatula to press the bread down. Let it soak at least 15-20 minutes if you’re baking the same morning. Otherwise, place in the fridge overnight. Serve this with or without warm maple syrup, it’s heaven! Can French Toast Casserole be Reheated? That’s assuming you’ll have leftovers. I’ve reheated this breakfast casserole two different ways. I’ll reheat a single piece on a plate using the microwave, but if I’m reheating the whole casserole, I’ll place aluminum foil over the top and reheat in the oven, usually 325° or 350° for about 20-25 minutes. A room without a chandelier, a lamp, e pendant or a combination of these just doesn’t look complete. The search for the right light fixture can sometimes seem like an impossible and endless task. We often find ourselves searching for a light fixture without really knowing what we’re looking for. The whole process is blurry but our whole world lights up when we finally lay eyes on the perfect lamp or chandelier. We hope that at least one of the designs we’ve selected for you today can offer you this experience. Available in two versions, as a single unit or in a triple version, the Chains lighting system can adapt to a variety of spaces. The lampshades can be installed in a variety of ways: in a long vertical arrangement, in groups at the same level, randomly spread across the room via extra fixing points or in custom configurations. It’s a great, eye-catching fixture not just for spaces for super high ceilings but also for corners and stylish reading nooks. The Bolle series is inspired by soap bubbles. These exquisite and beautiful lamps feature delicate shades made of thin, transparent glass with brass bulbs suspended between the spheres. They create magical effects as the light is reflected into the spheres and amplified by their delicate, curved surfaces. These amazing lamps are hand blown by Venetian artisans. Remember the Bananas lamp we mentioned a while ago when discussing unusual floor lamps? This is the suspended version. It features these large, floaring banana tree leaves which reflect and diffuse the light, creating a really stunning visual effect. The Bananas suspended lamp is a great light fixture for large, open spaces. Wall sconces are not exactly known for their original or eye-catching designs and there aren’t as many options to choose from compared to lamps or chandeliers. That makes the Otto wall light that much more special. It’s a two-section sconce with a stylish satin gold finish and LED tape outlining the edges. This gives it a warm and pleasant glow. The Prague pendant light pays homage to the teardrop and also bears a resemblance to a cocoon. The pendant comes in several different sizes and has a lightweight and delicate look. You can use it as a separate, standalone light fixture or you can cluster several pendants together to create a luminous and eye-catching installation. Another delicate and lightweight-looking lighting fixture was designed by Patrick E. Naggar and is called Drop. It comes in the form of a table lamp made out of blown glass and metal. The glass shade comes in a variety of different colors and the base is available in several different finishes. This reveals numerous charming combinations and allows the Drop lamp to be a highly versatile accessory. Sometimes we can’t really decide whether a lamp or an art piece would be the best option for a particular space and we wish we could combine both. That’s actually what the Large Kranium lets you do. This is a statement piece, a combination between a piece of art and a contemporary lighting fixture. It’s designed to look like a large and colorful Day of the Dead Mask and it’s a cool accessory for spaces of all kinds. There are also cases when although we’re not really sure how we want a light fixture to look like, we know we want it to be abstract and mysterious somehow and to make use of geometric forms. One option could be the MyK lamp which is part sculpture and part light fixture. It has a sinuous base made of rings with a metallic finish and an elliptical glass shade. The Revolta lighting series is quite special in its own way. This is a collection of decorative pendant lamps with circle-shaped frames which can either be empty or can hold fabric-covered acoustic panels. This gives these pendants an edge and makes them a cool and practical option for particular types of spaces or for large areas which need to be divided into smaller, discrete spaces. Light and shadow coexist and form a surprisingly harmonious duo. One of the most amazing expressions of this wonderful contrast is the eclipse. Eclipsi lets you bring that surreal beauty into your home in the form of a stylish wall-mounted light fixture. To achieve this effect, the designer superposed two disks, a white and a black one and rotated the top one to reveal soft, indirect light and to create the illusion of an eclipse. The Circus 750 series designed by Resident Studio is a very special and interesting lighting system. The idea behind it is to allow users to create their own version of a pendant lamp by with one, two or more brass rings, each framed by an elegant LED band. They give out soft and subtle light and they double as eye-catching decorations. The Lollipop lighting collection, as the name suggests, is a very playful series with a sweet source of inspiration. Each table lamp and pendant looks like a giant lollipop and the design is very suggestive, down to the smallest detail like the slightly uneven surface or the slightly asymmetrical outline of the shade. The Dome collection is another beautiful example of the art and lighting combo, this time with strong architectural influences. Each chandelier is like a sculpture, a beautiful and refined accessory meant to stand out and to be a statement piece, whether the lights are on or off. When we think of lighting fixtures the image of something lightweight, delicate and bright comes to mind, most often made of glass. Concrete is not exactly a common material but, surprisingly, there are plenty of concrete lamps which actually look delicate and super stylish. Check out the Aplomb series for example. These lamps feature sleek concrete shades available in six different colors. Powered by WPeMatico The post Statement Lamps And Pendants That Take Lighting To A Whole New Level appeared first on TepuyMagazine. via TepuyMagazine https://ift.tt/2Pjj9ic Halloween is a lot of fun, whether you’re a kid looking to score candy or an adult trying to make the most awesome decorations. Speaking of decorations, we absolutely love this part and we enjoy coming up with new and exciting ideas each year and sharing them with you. Today we’re focusing on Halloween door decorations and all the cool ways in which you can spookify not just your front door but the space around it too. A plain white door is the perfect canvas if you want to create this awesome jack Skellington-inspired decor. All you need is black decals for the mouth, eyes and nose. You can also use black cardstock and black tape. You can find details on twindragonflydesigns. If black and white isn’t really your style and you’d prefer a more colorful approach, check out this eye-catching bat wreath. The bats are pink and glittery which is not exactly accurately but the fact that this is such an unusual color palette makes the wreath spooky in a different and more vibrant way. Worried nobody will see your awesome front door decor once it gets dark outside? You can remedy that if you use glow-in-the-dark ornaments or if you have some sconces or accent lighting you can use to put the spotlight on the front door. Check out flickr for more inspiring options. Tombstones have a creepy aura and they’re pretty easy to make. Just to be clear, we’re talking about Halloween decorations. A chalkboard tombstone is a pretty cool idea because you can customize it however you want and white or draw anything you want on it. You could display on or next to your front door. Spider webs can also give someone the creeps and we absolutely love how easy it is to make them. If you want to decorate the front door, for example, all you need is some black washi tape (or white, that works too). Check out hometalk to see how it would end up looking like. It would be nice to add a few spiders too, just to make the design more realistic. Isn’t this pumpkin topiary just awesome? It’s a perfect decoration for the front door or for the porch in general. To make one just like it you’ll need the following: a few pumpkin jack-o-lanterns, a wood dowel, a pot, some spray paint, primer, extension cord and flowers. You could use an existing planter if you want to. You can check out tatertotsandjello to find out more details about the project. You can make your front door look Halloween-ready without being too spooky. We really like what designimprovised suggests in this sense: a BOO welcome mat, simple pumpkins and an awesome wreath which you can customize in a lot of beautiful and fun ways. A black and white Halloween porch could look super cool too. You could spray paint a few pumpkins or decorate them with bows, decals and other things and you could put up chalkboard signs. This porch setup featured on craftcritters looks welcoming thanks to the hay bale, wooden crate and the overall rustic backdrop so that can be a source of inspiration too. A lot of the ideas on our list are fun and cute but if you want something with a more scary or gloomy aura you should focus on projects like this raven wreath featured on theredpaintedcottage. To make it you’ll need a grapevine wreath, a bunch of black feathers or leaves and two (or more) crow ornaments. A glass door offers a lot of freedom when decorating because you can display things on the inside and hide imperfections behind the door frame. For example, you can use the idea offered on simplemadepretty. You only need a few pieces of cardboard and a marker pen or some paint and a stencil plus tape. A skull wreath can also look spooky. You can display it on the front door to create a gloomy ambiance right from the entrance. You can find a tutorial describing how to make the wreath on triedandtrueblog. The supplies needed include styrofoam mini skulls, sturdy wire, a hot glue gun and ribbon. Witches can be pretty scary too. However, they can be difficult to craft and you might want to simplify things a bit. For example, you could only keep the broom and forget about the witch altogether. Check out mayarts for more wicked ideas. I don’t know about you but I love googly eyes and I like to put them on everything so, naturally, I find this craftaholicsanonymous project to be awesome. The idea is to decorate the front door with a bunch of googly eyes to make it look like a spooky but also playful monster. We also found a cool Halloween door decorating idea on idlewife. We really like how simple the decor is: just a bunch of bird silhouettes scattered across the door and the walls. You can do something similar with bar silhouettes which are easier to cut out. Since most doors are rectangular, if you want to turn your into a giant spider it will look a bit awkward but you can use that in your favor to create a silly and playful decor. If your front door is not black, that’s ok too. You can temporarily cover it up with some black fabric or paper. Add large googly eyes, a mouth and legs (these would have to extend to the sides, on the walls). Check out the full tutorial on darice. We’re back to witches and we’d like to show a project which was featured on holidaysnobs. We’re not sure where the rest of this poor witch went but we’re happy that the legs are so easy to craft. You can also add a sign to mark the spot. It can say “ding dong the wicked witch is dead” or something similar. If you don’t have ruby slippers that’s ok. Maybe you can give an old pair of shoes a quick makeover. Powered by WPeMatico The post Spooky, Scary and Fun Halloween Door Decoration Ideas appeared first on TepuyMagazine. via TepuyMagazine https://ift.tt/2JfO1ux Marble is viewed as a sophisticated and luxurious material and is appreciated for its looks, being often a prime choice for kitchens and bathrooms. There are many different ways to use marble in interior design and today we’re going to explore 10 methods which you can use if you want to include this exquisite material in your bathroom. There’s an option for everyone, whether you’re the type that likes to be surrounded by marble or to only use it in small doses. A marble bathroom will always look refined and elegant, no matter how you look at it. Full marble bathroomThere’s marble on the walls, floor and ceiling of this contemporary bathroom and instead of looking overwhelming it actually maintains a rather simple and look. The key is to allow this material to be the center of attention and to avoid strong contrasts or unnecessary extra focal points. An elegant marble backsplashMarble is an excellent backsplash material and if you add a strip of LED lights to the underside of the cabinets/ mirrors you’ll highlight its beauty even more. A marble backsplash can be paired with a matching countertop but we actually prefer this plain white one better. Marble washbasinsIf you think marble backsplashes and countertops are too common and you’d rather opt for something else, another option can be a marble washbasin (or more than one, depending on the type of bathroom you’re decorating). A marble bathtubOf course, there are other ways to avoid mainstream decors and still use marble in your bathroom. A great example is a marble bathtub. Obviously a freestanding tub is your best bet if you want this to become a statement piece and focal point for the bathroom. A marble tub surroundAs stylish and beautiful as freestanding tubs are, sometimes they’re just not the best option. A built-in tub doesn’t completely ruin your chances of adding elegant marble accents to the decor. In fact, it reveals a whole new range of design possibilities. For example, a marble top surround can make the tub stand out in a really interesting way. Marble accessoriesYou can still bring marble into your bathroom even if you’re already finished designing and decorating it. After all, there’s always room for new accessories. How about a stylish marble set like this one? It’s the little things that complete a space and give it the desired atmosphere. Marble pedestal sinksPedestal sinks used to be very popular a few decades ago and recently they’ve made a stylish comeback. You can find a variety of modern pedestal sinks with elegant and sculptural designs and they come in several different materials including marble. Marble cabinet frontsAs you can see, marble is a very versatile material which can be used for much more than just backslashes, tiles, sinks and countertops. It can even become a part of stylish furniture pieces. For example, vanity or cabinet with marble front panels can really stand out. A marble accent wallThe most beautiful thing about marble is the fact that it features these unique patterns and if you want to truly capture the beauty of the veins you need large marble tiles or surfaces. An accent wall would in this case be a great idea. More marble accessoriesThe Orion or Norma series from ooumm reveal new and unexpected to bring marble into the bathroom in the form of unique accessories. Thin marble slices are cut with incredible precision and shaped into sophisticated decorations which are paired with oil lamps or candles. These exquisite accessories stand out and aren’t entirely non-functional either. They’re the elements which give a bathroom character.
